THE PASTAMAN CHRONICLES
ELECTRIC OWL
HEY KIDS! IT'S CUPIE COMICS!!!
Back around 2004, I did a series of place mats for a chain of restaurants in Southwestern Pennsylvania and Ohio called "Kings Family Restaurants".
Their character was a chicken named "Cupie King" who wore a hockey jersey with the Kings "fork" logo on it. The place mats were a big hit so I went on to propose a series of free comics that would be given out to the kids (similar to Big Boy Comics) who came to the restaurants with their families. Below is the mock-up for the 1st issue. I gave it to the ad agency but nothing ever came out of it. I'm not sure if they ever showed it to Kings or if they just decided it wasn't the image Kings was looking for. Either was a lot of fun to write and illustrate these two very short cartoon-like stories.
